Blastocyst

Blastocyst is the stage of development embryo reaches after 5-6 days of fertilization and is able to implant in the uterus.
The embryo is cultured in laboratory for 5 days in place of conventional 3 days before transfer.

What are benefits of blastocyst culture and transfer?

• Due better embryo selection there is a statistically higher chance of live birth pregnancy.
• We are able to transfer lesser number of embryos decreasing the risk of multiple pregnancy However there is a chance that embryos may not develop upto blastocyst at all. The additional culture time also adds to financial as well as emotional cost to the couple
